Tuolumne Economic Development Authority Announces Logo and Web Plan for Westside Cherry Valley Golf Club

TUOLUMNE, Calif., Jan. 15 // -- Plans for the Westside Cherry Valley Golf Club are moving forward with the release of the proposed new logo and website: http://www.westsidecherryvalleygolfclub.com. The property chosen for this golf course development was the former lumber mill site of the Westside Lumber Company in Tuolumne, CA, which was an active large lumber mill until it closed in 1964. The logo design reflects artifacts located at the site as well as traditional Tribal elements, and celebrates the wildlife and native vegetation that exists at this location. The course site features rolling natural terrain, prolific vegetation and a primary water source: the year round Turnback Creek, which historically filled the millponds on site. After several failed development plans, the property was purchased by the Tuolumne Band of the Me-Wuk Indians at auction. The Westside parcel was in the historical heart of the Me-Wuk homeland and the property has returned to the lands rightful stewards.

The Tuolumne Economic Development Authority, in retaining Scott Miller Golf Design for the development of the Westside Cherry Valley Golf Club, is pursuing the Audubon International environmental designation for their golf course plan for "using the resources in a manner that meets present needs without compromising future generations from meeting their own needs." This is a very involved process that requires multiple reviews during planning and construction as well as a review of the plan to operate the golf course property upon completion.

Black Oak Casino is the principle development project of the Tuolumne Economic Development Authority. Black Oak Casino features over 1000 slot machines, 24 table games, 4 automated poker tables, seven bars and restaurants, live entertainment, and a 24-lane Brunswick Bowling Center and arcade. Completion of a six-story parking garage, with a bridge connecting the parking facility to the casino floor, will highlight 2008 development plans. The bridge will also feature a fully automated poker room. Future plans include a hotel and conference center to complete the destination resort.
