5th Annual Living Legends of Aviation(R) Awards Ceremony to Honor John Travolta and Other Aviation Legends
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 14 // -- John Travolta and other legends will be honored at the Beverly Hilton on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, during the "Living Legends of Aviation" award ceremony. Travolta was selected to receive the "2007 Ambassador of Aviation Award," by the "Living Legends of Aviation," made up of aviation entrepreneurs, innovators, record breakers, astronauts, pilots who have become celebrities and celebrities who have become pilots.A partial list of confirmed attendees for this year's gala include Bob Hoover, Cliff Robertson, John Travolta, Barron Hilton, Morgan Freeman, Buzz Aldrin, Harrison Ford, Steven Hazy, Kurt Russell, Kermit Weeks, Bob Lutz, Patty Wagstaff, Bruce McCaw, Carroll Shelby, Maj. Gen. Bill Anders, Clay Lacy, Joe Clark, Julie Clark, James Raisbeck, Dr. Forrest Bird, George McGovern, Tony Bill, Sean Tucker, Alan Klapmeier, Pat Epps and many more.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is also among those being honored. In 1985, Sheikh Ahmed founded Emirates Airlines with 10 million dollars, two leased aircraft and a vision of turning Dubai into a world aviation hub and one of the most sophisticated and cosmopolitan cities of the world. His vision, persistence and entrepreneurial leadership is truly changing the globe. During 2007, Emirates Airlines carried nearly 18 million passengers. Emirates will have 122 Boeing 777s by 2011, and 58 Airbus A380s by 2012.
This spectacular evening, often referred to as the Academy Awards of Aviation, will honor the "Living Legends of Aviation" inducted in 2007 and include a special tribute to the Legends that "Flew West" in 2007. The awards to be presented include Aviation Entrepreneur of the Year, Lifetime Aviation Entrepreneur, Aviation Industry Leader of the Year, Freedom of Flight Award and Ambassador of Aviation Award.
The event is produced by Airport Journals. The "Living Legends of Aviation" is also the title of a new book by Di Freeze featuring many of these legends.
